HIGH POINT — Valdese Weavers will introduce a collection of Biltmore-licensed fabrics at next week's Showtime fabric show here that includes 10 patterns, each available in six to 10 colors.
Ann Hackney, Valdese Weavers senior creative director, said the new line will include fashion-forward colors such as plum, mulberry and charcoal that will give the collection a modern edge.
"We have interpreted classic Biltmore treasures collected from around the world, such as hand-painted silk wallpaper and a hand-knotted Persian rug, into updated designs," she said.
Valdese, which has designed and manufactured jacquard woven decorative fabrics in North Carolina since 1935, has a showroom on the sixth floor of Market Square's Textile Tower here.
The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., built for the George Vanderbilt family and once America's largest private home, has had a licensing division since 1990 to offer designs based on its collection of art and home furnishings and the spirit of country living.
