ATLANTA — IMA, a Colombia-based manufacturer that has produced case goods and upholstery for high-end U.S. brands such as Baker, Henredon and E.J. Victor, has announced it is getting into the U.S. hospitality market with a new division.
IMA Hospitality will be based here and is led by Nick Hart, who worked in hospitality sales at companies including Drexel Heritage and Baker Furniture. From 2002 to June 2010, he was president and CEO of Decca Hospitality Furnishings.
Jaime Lechter, president CEO of IMA, which has a 1 million-square-foot operation in Bogota, Colombia, said the company felt the timing was right for it to enter the U.S. hospitality market.
"IMA has a wealth of experience with guest room furnishings in the South American hospitality market, and has done custom manufacturing for many high-end U.S. residential furniture companies. Custom furniture is not new to us; we've been doing it for 30 years," Lechter said.
He noted that IMA operates on Eastern Standard Time and can make deliveries to most U.S. ports in seven days.
Hart said IMA aims to serve the upper-medium and higher end segments of the hospitality market.
"I've never been associated with an organization this committed to quality and craftsmanship," Hart added. "The factory uses state of the art equipment with unprecedented construction standards, and their finishing capabilities are, without a doubt, the finest I've seen."
He also said the company is environmentally conscious, and its furniture qualifies for LEED points and LEED certification.
