Furniture maker MacKenzie-Dow wins Build It in America Award
West Virginia company makes solid cherry case goods

WASHINGTON — Case goods manufacturer MacKenzie-Dow Fine Furniture has received the 2011 Build It in America Award from Made: In America, a nonprofit educational organization that supports U.S. manufacturing.

Huntington, West Va.-based MacKenzie-Dow produces case goods made with solid black cherry. It distributes its line in more than 265 residential furniture stores and 20 design centers.
The award is the result of a year-long effort to identify best business practices as well as companies that are committed to a U.S. manufacturing model.
"We are excited to be recognized for our efforts alongside some of the most respected names in the furnishings industry," said CEO Gary Adams in a statement. "Our team of craftsmen works very hard to produce some of the most unique and exquisite pieces in our country."
The Made in America organization recognized MacKenzie-Dow as "exemplary in its field and congratulated the company and its employees for their long-standing commitment to making - in America - the finest in handcrafted furniture."
The award will be presented at the annual Take Pride in America celebration held at the United States Capitol on July 4.
The same organization also will recognize North Carolina manufacturer Century Furniture at the event with a separate award, 2011 Best: Made in America.
