BRAMPTON, Ontario - Industry veteran John Power will join Furniture Brands Canada as national sales manager of its Lane and Broyhill divisions effective June 13, succeeding Cheryl Hurley, who will take on a new assignment within the company.
For the past seven years, Power has been the Eastern Canada regional sales manager for Serta Canada. Previously, he was vice president of sales and marketing for upholstery maker Sklar Peppler and vice president of marketing for Magnussen Home Furnishings.
He will report to Furniture Brands Canada President Mark Wiltshire, who said Power has "a very strong background in our industry but more importantly, a firm understanding of the Canadian furniture marketplace."
Hurley, who has held several sales management roles in the company's Lane and Broyhill divisions, will become the sales representative for the brands in northern and eastern Ontario beginning Aug. 2.
Wiltshire said that over the next 60 days, Hurley will continue working with the company's Canadian sales force and assisting in the transition of the management team.
Furniture Brands Canada, a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Furniture Brands International, was created in 2009 as a vehicle to expand FBI's presence in the Canadian market and to bring all 10 of its brands to retailers north of the border.
