Dutch Craft to produce Eclipse, Eastman House mattresses

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Dutch Craft Mattress Co. has signed an exclusive licensing agreement to manufacture mattresses under the Eclipse and Eastman House brands, serving Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, southern Indiana and northern Georgia.

Eli Schmucker, owner of Celina, Tenn.-based Dutch Craft, said the company manufactures 80 types of mattresses in its 45,000-square-foot plant.
"The opportunity to add Eclipse and Eastman House to our current lineup was something we couldn't pass up. These brands will add further depth and brand recognition to our existing product lines," he said.
Schmucker started in the bedding industry at age 17 and established Dutch Craft as a small two-man operation in 2003. He plans to open a second manufacturing facility in the Erie, Pa., area.
"The Eclipse and Eastman House brands will take us to the next level and we already have retailers waiting for it. I strongly believe Dutch Craft, Eclipse and Eastman House will give our existing retailers as well as new retailers opportunities they never had before," he said.
Eastman House, originally the flagship line of the Chittenden and Eastman Co., was founded in 1866. In late 2007, Mattress Development Co., the parent company of Eclipse International, purchased Eastman House and began licensing the ultra premium brand to mattress manufacturers.
Eclipse offers products it says are clinically proven and patented, including Spinal Zone, Spinal Zone 2, Lumbar Zone, Allergy Free, LifEdge perimeter support systems and Zoned Quilt Technology. In May 2000, Stuart Carlitz, president of Bedding Inds. of America and Mattress Development Co., acquired Eclipse and began licensing it around the world.
