AHFA, Globe Offer Shipping Program
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, July 9, 2011
HIGH POINT - The American Home Furnishings Alliance has launched a new container shipping program for its members in partnership with Globe Express Services, a third-party logistics provider based in Charlotte, N.C.
"We take the potential buying power of all our members and have negotiated a rate structure that would be significantly sharper than what any one of them can do individually," said Jackie Hirschhaut, AHFA vice president of public relations and marketing.
"Especially with so many people looking at a global supply chain, it really helps the mid- and smaller-sized companies be competitive. We want that to be an advantage to their membership."
In addition to negotiating shipping rates on clients' behalf, Globe Express offers freight forwarding, overseas warehousing and consolidation, domestic drayage and customs brokerage services. It also helps clients with regulatory compliance, domestic warehousing/trans-loading and intermodal transportation needs.
"It's a real honor for us to serve the AHFA and its membership in this capacity," said Bill Smith, Globe Express vice president of marketing and sales, in a statement. "GES has a long history of providing global logistics solutions to the furniture industry, and we're eager to serve shippers of all sizes."
