GREENSBORO, N.C. — Casual Living, the leading business-to-business publication for the outdoor casual market, has expanded its staff with the addition of Executive Editor Nicole Crews.
Nicole CrewsIn her new role, which is also a new title at Casual Living, Crews will oversee and direct the editorial content for the recently redesigned publication and will report to Publisher Norman Hamilton and to Ray Allegrezza, editorial director of Casual Living and editor in chief of Furniture/Today.
"Nicole's literally grown up in the home furnishings industry. Her mother is a furniture designer as well as an interior designer - and she's been involved with home furnishings through her writing and video projects," said Hamilton.
"She's bringing all this wealth of multimedia experience and knowledge to Casual Living, which will enable the publication to further enhance its presence both in print and online," Hamilton said. "With Nicole's help, we will be able to do an even better job spotting trends and reporting on emerging markets and industry issues."
In addition to her extensive knowledge of the home furnishings business, Crews also brings a vast publishing and video background to Casual Living.
She previously worked for Ballantyne Publishing as editor in chief of NCBoatingLifestyle; Gefen Productions as a trend-spotting writer and producer of the television and video series Home Fashion Report and Landmark Communications as editor in chief of HomeStyle and InStyle magazines.
"They say timing is everything," Crews said. "The opportunity to work for Sandow Media's home furnishings group and the chance to be involved with the casual living segment of the industry was just too good to pass up. I am excited about becoming a part of the fastest-growing segment of the furniture industry but even more so about working with Cinde Ingram and the whole Casual Living team."
"The addition of Nicole to our staff will immediately allow us to take advantage of the strengths of our existing team," Allegrezza said. "She will also help us as we continue to transition from the leading trade news magazine to the leading business lifestyle magazine for the casual industry, and we are excited that she's on our team."
Crews is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, New York University and abroad at Cambridge University and Universidad Complutense - Madrid.
