Signature Home Closing
Heath E Combs -- Furniture Today, July 12, 2011
CERRITOS, Calif. - Case goods importer Signature Home Furnishings says it plans to close as industry veteran and company founder Marco Lin retires.
The company has been liquidating inventory from its warehouse here, officials said.
Lin founded Signature in 1998. In 1983, he had founded Pacific Motif Inc., which closed in 1996. He also had worked at Lifestyle California.
While it sold many conventional looks, Signature also was known for its innovative, forward-looking designs based on trends in technology.
Marco Lin's son Albert Lin, vice president at Signature, said his father was among the first furniture importers from Southeast Asia.
"It has been an honor to work with my father so closely after all these years. He has not only been an amazing father to me, but also a mentor. I have learned so much from him regarding this industry and will continue to use my knowledge going forward," Albert Lin said.
In 2006, company officials estimated sales for the year at about $40 million. A more current sales figure was not available.
