Retired mattress salesman, executive Jeremiah Reardon dies at 70

He spent several years with Sealy, beginning as a sales representative for the company's Randolph, Mass., factory and working his way up to vice president of sales for the factory. In 1995 he joined Serta Northeast as vice president of sales and marketing and held that post until he retired from Serta in 2004.

When his longtime colleague Kevin Toman became president and CEO of Restonic, Reardon joined him at the bedding producer to head sales and marketing. He retired shortly after Toman left Restonic in 2006.

"Jeremiah was a well-respected and well-loved guy," said Toman, now president of Top 15 producer Englander. "Retailers as well as his sales staff had great admiration for his views and for the concepts he pursued in the industry."

Toman also recalled Reardon's gentle spirit. "In all my contacts with Jeremiah over the years," he said, "I never heard a harsh word from him about his fellow man."

Survivors include his wife, five sons, one of whom, Ed, works for Serta, two daughters, eight stepchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
