Michael Bookbinder joins Mattress Giant as EVP of merchandising, marketing

He assumes the responsibilities previously held by Dominick Azevedo, who left Mattress Giant in May to become the president and CEO of manufacturer Advanced Sleep Concepts.

"Mike Bookbinder is an extremely talented executive who will be a terrific addition to our Mattress Giant team," said Michael Glazer, president and CEO of the retailer.
"With his passion for the business and his experience in growing retail sales, I have no doubt he will quickly be a significant contributor to the growth and profitability of Mattress Giant."

Bookbinder has more than 20 years of industry experience in retail and manufacturing. He spent 11 years at Hicksville, N.Y.-based Sleepy's, the country's largest sleep shop chain, in various senior roles, including executive vice president of sales and marketing. He began his retail career at City Mattress in Buffalo, N.Y., where he became president.

Bookbinder most recently was at mattress manufacturer Comfort Solutions in a new business development role as senior vice president of sales.

"I am very excited to become part of the Mattress Giant team," Bookbinder said. "I look forward to returning to my retail roots and believe that my background will allow me to help Mattress Giant grow its business."
