Sherrill Furniture names four key executives to new posts

HICKORY, N.C. — In what Sherrill Furniture Cos. calls "a structure for the future," four key executives have been named to newly created positions at the upper-end manufacturer.
Thad Monroe, a 23-year industry veteran, has been hired as chief operating officer and will have responsibility for all divisions of the Sherrill Cos. He previously held executive positions at Furniture Brands International and Bernhardt.
Melanie Cooper, a 17-year veteran of Sherrill, has been promoted to executive vice president. Cooper previously was vice president of creative design.
Bob Choppa has been promoted to corporate senior vice president. In addition, he retains his responsibilities as CEO of Hickory White and CTH Sherrill Occasional. Before joining Sherrill, he was senior vice president of upholstery for Thomasville Furniture.
Woody Williams also has been named corporate senior vice president. He also remains CEO of Precedent.
All report to Harold W. "Buddy" Sherrill, president of Sherrill Furniture Cos.
"Each of the executives is a valuable asset to the Sherrill Furniture Cos. and with their home furnishings experience and talent, I am confident that the Sherrill Furniture Cos. will continue to maintain its current position in the marketplace and diversify and grow in the future," said Sherrill.
