DALLAS — Reclaimed teak furniture specialist Groovystuff is introducing The Echo Collection, designed by Appalachian State University student Alex Parker, at next month's Las Vegas Market.

Parker was a finalist in a design competition sponsored by Groovystuff and the Boone, N.C.-based university last year.
Students were required to design an environmentally friendly product that reflects Groovystuff licensee Dick Idol's brand, could be made from reclaimed teak and could be produced using sustainable manufacturing practices.
The Echo captain's chair and side chair were designed with an organic grittiness refined to a sophisticated and modern look, the company said. Its frames are made from reclaimed teak flooring and the chair is adorned with reclaimed teak branches.
A flat, lacquer finish softens the contrast between the two types of teak and gives the chairs a modern look.
"Our goal with this competition was to provide students with a platform for creativity and encourage them to embrace the home furnishings industry," Groovystuff President Chris Bruning, said in a press release.
The company will show at the Aug. 1-5 Las Vegas Market in World Market Center space B-146.
