Industry professionals to share insights at first DesignEDGE Summit

NEW YORK — The International Furnishings and Design Association Educational Foundation (IFDA-EF) will host its first DesignEDGE Summit here May 20, a day before the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) kicks off.

Design professionals will share insights and strategies about the industry, including how to build and broaden your brand, create new ways to establish leadership and trust with consumers and colleagues, harness the latest tools of social media and technology, and create and expand global business, according to a release.

Designer Karim Rashid will give the keynote presentation, "The Future of Design,” followed by a catered lunch and roundtable discussion. The afternoon session, “Leading by Innovating,” will feature moderator Karen Marx, Hearst Design Group, along with Caleb Anderson, Drake / Anderson; Jamie Derringer, Design Milk; Kevin Greenberg, Space Exploration; Susan Jamieson, Bridget Beari Designs; and Chad Stark, STARK.

The summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 20, at the Millennium Broadway Hotel, 145 W. 44th St. There also will be a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. ICFF will take place May 21-24 at the Javits Center.

Profits from DesignEDGE will support future educational initiatives of IFDA-EF, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering “educational and philanthropic activities to enhance the furnishings and design industries.”
