New Orleans store owner pleads guilty to felonies

NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans furniture store operator received a 10-year suspended sentence for taking deposits on furniture and failing to deliver the goods, neworleanscitybusiness.com reported.As part of a plea agreement, Juliet Pritchett, who operated Juliet Home Furnishings, plead guilty to 12 counts of felony theft and two counts of writing worthless checks. Five of the years will be active probation.
In addition, Pritchett has agreed to pay more than $100,000 in restitution.
Authorities began an investigation in 2009 when a customer complained about the store's failure to deliver merchandise. News coverage led to additional victims coming forward with complaints.
