ISPA chairman says stats program vital

Bryan Smith at ISPAISPA Chairman Bryan Smith addresses the ISPA Conference.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The International Sleep Products Assn. continues to provide market intelligence that gives bedding companies the insights they need to grow, ISPA Chairman Bryan Smith said here.

In his address kicking off the ISPA Conference, Smith, the CEO of Top 15 bedding producer Southerland, recalled his own history with ISPA.

He said that decades ago when he began working in the industry, he needed industry data.

“My first experience with ISPA was a positive one,” he said. “It provided that date we could use for analytics and benchmarking.”

Smith said the Better Sleep Council, ISPA’s consumer education arm, provides “pertinent information” that provides valuable insights on the nature of the bedding market.

As Southerland has grown over the years, Smith said, “we needed more information and ISPA was there to provide it. ISPA has been and is a steward of the industry. It has moved this industry forward and kept it safe.”

And he said that industry players can “come together as friends” at ISPA events.
