OMI, retailer HD Buttercup featured at Los Angeles design expo

Actor Ed Begley Jr. gets comfortable on an OMI mattress at the Dwell on Design Expo in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES — Organic bedding producer OMI recently shared the spotlight here with California retailer HD Buttercup at the Dwell on Design Expo.

The two were featured in the Modern Living Showhouse by ecofabulous at the design event, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. OMI's Terra mattress was displayed on a bed frame provided by HD Buttercup.

Ecofabulous founder Zem Joaquin invited OMI to the event. "OMI has proven efficacy with the highest quality and most luxurious organic mattresses available, providing incredible comfort for the third of your life spent in bed," she said.

OMI's bed got good reviews at the event from a number of attendees, including actors Mariel Hemingway and Ed Begley Jr., who both sleep on OMI mattresses.

OMI, based in Yuba City, Calif., says it operates the nation's only "Eco-Factory," designed solely to produce organic products, including the mattresses in OMI's OrganicPedic line.

OMI officials recently announced HD Buttercup, which has stores in the Los Angeles area and San Francisco, as the company's 100th dealer.

"We felt it made sense to complement our sustainable furniture lines with an organic mattress, but wanted to make sure that what we offered was the most authentic mattress on the market," said Aaron Resnik, division sales manager for HD Buttercup. "We have been very happy with the customer response to the OrganicPedic collection."

Walt Bader, OMI's CEO, said the retailer's Dream mattress studio "showcases OMI exceptionally well, and the two companies make a perfect fit."
