Spring Air signs Jamison as licensee for Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky

David Perry -- Furniture Today, July 27, 2011

BOSTON — Top 15 bedding producer Spring Air International has added independent bedding maker Jamison Bedding to its roster of licensees.

Jamison, based in Brentwood, Tenn., will make and market Spring Air-branded products in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, announced Spring Air President Rick Robinson.

He said Jamison, which will produce Spring Air and the brand's flagship Back Supporter products exclusively from its 100,000-square-foot Gallatin, Tenn., factory, "is a perfect fit with our company and we're proud to have them as a partner in our growing group."
Robinson said Jamison is "a strong, well-respected bedding producer in its own right, and in terms of business values like innovation and quality, we are well aligned. This development is an excellent example of the positive growth and evolution that the Spring Air organization is undergoing."

Jamison, which has factories in Gallatin and Albany, Ga., fills the sales territory formerly served by Spring Air Midwest in Columbus, Ohio. That plant was closed late last year and retailers have been serviced by Spring Air factories in Boston and in Toledo, Iowa.

"We're very pleased that we took the necessary time to find the right partner to promote and sell our products in the Midwest region," Robinson said.

To manage the Spring Air rollout, Jamison has expanded the responsibilities of its territory manager, Drew Bryson, now based in Columbus, Ind., to include Indiana, northern Kentucky and initially Ohio.

Jamison ultimately will seek a sales representative to cover northern Ohio, according to Ken Hinman, Jamison's senior vice president of sales and marketing. He, Bryson and Jamison President Frank Gorrell will join Spring Air next week at the Las Vegas Market in its World Market Center showrooms in spaces B-1125 and B-1126.

"This is an exciting venture between two longstanding mattress brands that value their heritage and take pride in both their people and products," Hinman said. "The synergies that exist in this new arrangement will enable us to maximize our raw materials purchasing, leverage our delivery systems in new markets and increase factory productivity. We also see the strength of the Spring Air brand and its emphasis on smart marketing and meaningful innovation as major opportunities for us."

Jamison plans to continue marketing its own mattress brands, including Arbor, Crest, Oceania and TLC, among other collections. As a supplier to U.S. hotels and properties including Marriott and Best Western, the company also will maintain its hospitality lines, and its Hypnos line of licensed products.

Spring Air International has 14 manufacturing facilities in the United States.
