Report says Vietnam's furniture exports up 20% this year

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — Rising global demand is expected to keep Vietnam's indoor and outdoor furniture industry healthy through year end, according to a report from the Kearny Alliance published in Viet Nam News.
Citing the report, the publication said that exports of indoor and outdoor furniture have expanded by 20% so far this year. Wood product exports alone were valued at about $1.4 billion during first five months of this year, a 17% increase from the same period in 2010, the paper reported.
Total exports of wood products, including furniture, were on target to reach $4.1 billion, up 24% over last year according to the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Assn., the paper reported.
The Kearny Alliance report said that Vietnam-made wood products are sold to about 120 nations and territories. Key foreign markets for wood products were listed as North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
