Broyhill Furniture moves into new headquarters in Lenoir, N.C.

LENOIR, N.C. — Broyhill Furniture has moved from its 1960s era headquarters facility to new quarters in a building near its upholstery plant here.

The case goods and upholstery resource first occupied the former headquarters facility on U.S. 321 in Lenoir in 1966.
Company officials said the new one-story headquarters is smaller than the original three-story, 142,000-square-foot building. The new location doesn't have the old building's former showroom facilities that buyers would visit in the 1960s and 1970s. The company now shows product in permanent showrooms in High Point and Las Vegas.
The new location, which is owned by parent company Furniture Brands International, served as a Broyhill plastic components plant in the early 1970s and was later converted to a case goods plant. More recently, it had operated as a warehouse, but has been renovated for administrative offices, said company spokeswoman Lisa Hanly.
Hanly said the new offices have the employees closer to furniture production.
"This is terrific for product development and collaboration opportunities," she said. "As well, people working in similar functions now have offices that are nearer to each other than in the old building - again, better collaboration and more efficient work days."
Furniture Brands has the original building on the market for $4.5 million. It includes about 43 acres of land.
