Furnitureland South teams with PGA Tour Wives to help agency

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, August 16, 2011

JAMESTOWN, N.C. — Furnitureland South has partnered with the PGA Tour Wives Assn. to renovate three spaces for Family Service of the Piedmont, a private nonprofit agency serving Guilford County, N.C.

PGA Tour, Furnitureland SouthFurnitureland South and the PGA Tour Wives Assn. partnered to refurbish three spaces, including this renovated room, for Family Service of the Piedmont.

Furnitureland South is refurbishing the lobby of the Slane Service Center in High Point and two spaces at the agency's Battered Women's Shelter.

The lobby of the Slane Service Center is the first point of contact for clients in need of any of the numerous services offered by Family Service of the Piedmont. The Battered Women's Shelter provides a home to a number of women and children who have fled violent and abusive domestic situations.

Furnitureland South is refurbishing the shelter's living room/TV area as well as the children's playroom. These rooms will receive new furnishings and wall coverings, providing an updated, more comfortable environment for clients seeking shelter.

"We are pleased to partner with the PGA Tour Wives Association to make a difference in our community through Piedmont Family Services," said Jason Harris, executive vice president of Furnitureland South. "We hope that these makeovers provide better environments for those in our community who seek these services in times of crisis. We are grateful to the PGA tour families for choosing Furnitureland South."

The "before and after" photos of the room makeovers will be revealed in a presentation to members of the PGA Tour Wives Assn. during Furnitureland South's 15th annual Price is Right event, to be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Furnitureland South Education Center at 10:30 am.

Furnitureland South hosts the wives of players in the Wyndham Championship, which is taking place this week in Greensboro, N.C. The women play a game modeled after the television show "The Price Is Right." Emceed by CBS commentator Peter Oosterhuis, the game provides a fun opportunity to play for home furnishing prizes and to support a worthy cause.
