FFO Home growing again with 8th Oklahoma showroom

More stores coming this year

PONCA CITY, Okla. — FFO Home’s aggressive expansion strategy is continuing this month with the opening of its 43 rd store here — its eighth in Oklahoma and seventh to open overall in the past six months.

The Fort Smith, Ark.-based Top 100 company will cut the ribbon April 28 on the nearly 23,000-square foot showroom, opening on North 14 th Street next to Hobby Lobby in a former Hastings Bookstore location.

The promotional to midpriced, bargain-oriented retailer has been in aggressive expansion mode ever since private equity firm Sun Capital Partners acquired the then 36-store chain in early 2016. President and CEO Larry Zigerelli has told Furniture Today FFO Home expects to open eight to 10 stores a year starting this year, filling out existing markets as well as expanding into adjacent markets, where it can leverage its logistics and marketing operations.

FFO opened its first store in Texas in Wichita Falls this past fall and then its first in Mississippi in Horn Lake, near Memphis earlier this month. The retailer also has stores in its home state of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.

The fast growing retailer generated 2016 furniture, bedding and accessory sales of $85.7 million, up about 12% from the year before, according to an estimate by PBM Strategic Insights, the research arm of Furniture Today parent Progressive Business Media.

In a release, the FFO Home said the new Oklahoma location will offer a broad selection of furniture, mattresses, adjustable bases and rugs and accents from sources including Serta, Broyhill, Flexsteel, as well as its own Natural Elements bedding line and its new Comfort Home line of living room furniture, including recliners and reclining sofa.

Zigerelli said the retailer continues “to strengthen our relationships in Oklahoma,” and, “We look forward to serving the furnishing needs of area residents through our commitment to providing outstanding quality furniture at the guaranteed lowest prices, backed by superior customer service and strong involvement in the communities we serve.”

In addition to the 10 a.m. grand opening and ribbon cutting, opening weekend festivities will include prize giveaways, including a Comfort Home power recliner.
