AVB/BrandSource conference opens Sunday in Las Vegas
Agenda to focus on helping members compete, generate sales
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, August 22, 2011
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Buying group AVB/BrandSource is preparing for an Aug. 28-31 Las Vegas convention that aims to help its members remain competitive and increase sales in a challenging marketplace.
BrandSource CEO Bob Lawrence said in a release that attendance at the convention at Caesar's Palace is expected to be up 25% from a year ago, as the group will unveil a new Kathy Ireland furniture line and also a mobile application that BrandSource says "has been under top-secret development for the past year." Details will be released during the convention.
Author Stephen Mansfield, founder of The Global Leadership Development Fund, known for rowdy humor, deep faith and inspiring "tales from great lives of the past," will be the keynote speaker.
"The BrandSource Convention lineup was developed with a keen understanding of the tough times we are all facing in this business and globally," Lawrence said. "We've put together a well-rounded program designed to help our members increase sales, which is the bottom line. This includes exciting product launches and new technologies that will help them be more competitive, as well as special offers and exclusive deals that they can take advantage of during the convention."
Attendees will be offered deals on the new, exclusive home furnishings line under the Kathy Ireland brand name. Ireland recently was named brand ambassador for the group.
Seminars and workshops will include "A Business Guide to Leadership Skills," "Furniture Advantage 2012 (getting a jump on the competition)," "Creating Raving Fans"; "Google Analytics 101"; "The Science of Sleep - Don't Sell Mattresses, Sell ‘Quality of Life'" and more.
During a 90-minute Stampede session, BrandSource will be invited to take advantage of a limited supply of 20 special deals offered by suppliers.
The entertainment for Aug. 30 will be The Guess Who, Canada's first international rock music superstar group in the 1960s.
