Sitcom Furniture to open new Shanghai showroom, office

OAKLAND, Calif. — Contemporary and transitional manufacturer Sitcom Furniture plans to open a new showroom and office loft in Shanghai, China, coinciding with the Furniture China show next month, and has named Stockton Weikel to run it.Weikel joined the company earlier as senior manager of sourcing and quality control.
The office and showroom will be the headquarters of the Asia operations of Sitcom, which is in its 20th year of furniture design and manufacturing. The company said the move will advance its presence in Asia.
Weikel has six years of Asian manufacturing, sourcing and supply chain management experience, officials said. He previously was director of quality assurance and product development at Interspec Group, which he joined in 2005.
A cocktail reception to celebrate the new space will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. The 2,529-square foot space is in the Soho Building, 501 Li Yuan Road, Building A7, room 7403 of the Luwan District.
The Furniture China show is set for Sept. 14-17 in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
Sitcom says it has more than 100 employees and works with 30 manufacturers in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, India and Malaysia.
