S&F Renews Commitment to Gift of Sleep

TRINITY, N.C. - Stearns & Foster, a high-end Sealy brand, has announced a renewed commitment to The Salvation Army to donate mattresses to its residential shelters through the Gift of Sleep program during the 2011 holiday season.
     Now in its second year, the program calls attention to the many Americans who will not have a place to sleep this holiday season while emphasizing The Salvation Army's continued need for mattress donations, officials said.
     "We are proud to partner with a charitable organization like The Salvation Army and to give the gift of sleep to those who need it most this holiday season," said Jodi Allen, chief marketing officer at Sealy. "Stearns & Foster founders G.S. Stearns and Seth Foster both came from humble beginnings and we commemorate the legacy of the Stearns & Foster brand with our continued partnership and commitment to this program."
     Last year, Stearns and Foster donated $1 million worth of new mattresses to The Salvation Army, helping to ensure that those who rely on the charity's residential shelters had a safe and comfortable place to sleep
     This year, Stearns & Foster will base the donation amount to The Salvation Army on the number of mattress sets sold between Nov. 23 and Jan. 8. For every Stearns & Foster mattress sold by participating retailers, the company will donate $100 towards new mattresses for The Salvation Army, up to $1 million.
     Participating Stearns & Foster retailers can also support their local Salvation Army residential shelters by participating in a retailer gift-matching opportunity. The Gift of Sleep program will coincide with The Salvation Army's iconic Red Kettle campaign, which raises millions of dollars in donations to help provide food, clothing, and toys for families in need during the holidays.
