Simmons hits road to promote new ComforPedic Loft line
Mobile showroom to visit 35 retailers in 20 weeks

INDIANAPOLIS — It's back on the road again for Simmons' ComforPedic Loft memory foam line. The upgraded line, which debuted at the recent Las Vegas Market, will be rolling into 35 cities across the country in the coming weeks in a mobile showroom.
The first ComforPedic retail road show two years ago successfully covered more than 22,000 miles, visiting retailers in 50 cities, Simmons officials said.
Now, given a challenging economy and high travel costs for retailers, the officials say the time is right for another round of visits by the mobile ComforPedic Loft showroom.
The current tour kicked off here with a ribbon-cutting event and the first retail visits. It is called the AirCool Sleep System U.S. Tour, a nod to the new technology in the ComforPedic Loft line.
The new tour will log 10,000 miles in 20 weeks to visit retailers across the country.
"We want to fundamentally change the way we do business with retailers in the face of these difficult economic times," said Scott Smalling, president of the Simmons Specialty Sleep division. "By bringing our product to retailers that didn't attend market, we're able to maintain those relationships and save our dealers valuable dollars."
The 18-wheeler showroom is wrapped with images of the new line. It will be accompanied by Smalling and Butch Webster, vice president of Simmons' Specialty Sleep division, who will help train dealers and sales associates on the best ways to showcase and sell the new line.
In addition to the retail visits, the tour will also stop at Simmons factories.
The road show will feature the ComforPedic Loft collection, which introduces what Simmons says is a revolutionary, patent-pending AirCool Sleep System that combines innovative design and multiple technology components to provide an individualized sleep experience that is cool, supportive and comfortable. The beds' components work together to provide an optimal sleeping temperature, heat dissipation and a cooling sensation at a price range of $1,499 to $2,999, according to the company.
"Our ComforPedic Loft line offers retailers a chance to provide their customers revolutionary memory foam technology at attainable price points," said Smalling. "Retailers have the benefit of offering customers cutting-edge designs while still keeping costs down. In the end, it's about offering our retailers accessibility and value."
