Simon Li to Open Warehouse, New High Point Showroom
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, September 8, 2011
HIGH POINT - Leather upholstery producer Simon Li is set to occupy a new showroom at next week's High Point Premarket here and will open its first U.S. warehouse in November.
The new showroom in space 220 of Plaza Suites will serve as the launching pad for the warehouse program, which allows dealers to order smaller quantities that can be delivered quickly.
"Not everybody wants to order full containers, and the economy is causing even our larger customers to lean in that direction," said Jackson Carpenter, president of the company's U.S. operations.
He said the warehouse will be operational by mid-November and initially will be stocked with six of Simon Li's best-selling groups. Based on reaction to product introductions at the High Point Market, as many as six additional groups will be included by January.
"We want to be a company that serves a wide range of customers, and this program gives us the opportunity to add to our customer base," said Carpenter. The warehouse program has been named SL USA. Items available on a container direct basis will be sold under the SL Direct moniker.
The new showroom encompasses 19,000 square feet. Carpenter said it's about 5,000 square feet larger than the company's previous showroom on the first floor of Showplace West.
