CORTE MADERA, Calif. — RH has hired Sandra Stangl, a 23-year veteran of competitor Williams Sonoma, as president of new business development.

Stangl will lead the development of future new business and growth strategies that leverage the Top 100 company’s multi-channel platform, the retailer said.

“I’ve had the pleasure of previously working with Sandra for seven years, and have remained an admirer of her work leading the development and growth of the Pottery Barn collection of brands to nearly $3 billion as its president,” RH Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman said in a statement.

She joins the Corte Madera, Calif.-based retailer after 23 years with San Francisco-based Williams-Sonoma, where she worked up the ranks at Pottery Barn and “played important roles in leading the conceptualization and development of the Pottery Barn Kids and Teen brands, in addition to leading the development and growth of the flagship Pottery Barn brand where she became president in 2008,” according to a release.

Williams-Sonoma announced Stangl’s resignation in April — along with its fourth quarter earnings, and news of major restructuring of Pottery Barn brands leadership.
