Serta pursues peace with new marketing push

Actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler invites people to the Serta Comfort Corner in NYC

NEW YORK – Bedding major Serta is launching a peace initiative, this one designed to help consumers find comfort in their bedrooms.

In its new marketing campaign, unveiled here, Serta is encouraging people to take some time out of their busy lives and “Declare Peace.” With nearly half of Americans claiming they spend less than one hour per day feeling at peace and relaxed, Serta is reminding everyone that there’s no better place than the bedroom to find complete comfort, whether it’s for 15 minutes or a full night’s sleep, the company said.

To kick off the campaign, Serta is teaming up with actress and mom Jamie-Lynn Sigler who is welcoming people to stop by the Serta Comfort Corner at Big Screen Plaza (851 6th Avenue between West 29th and 30th streets) in New York City today until 3 p.m.

Fans are being invited to join Serta in a relaxing bedroom setting amidst the city’s boisterous streets. There, people will be able to take time out to declare peace and be inspired to re-create their own comfort corner at home, all while trying out Serta’s latest technologically advanced mattress offerings, officials said.

“Between work, travels and being a mom, my days are busy and overwhelming – and it can be really challenging to press pause and be in the moment,” said Sigler. “I was excited to partner with Serta to remind us that we all need to make time to find peace, relax and rejuvenate. And there’s no better place to do that than in the comfort of your own bed.”

Now through June 16, fans can join Serta by visiting DeclarePeace.com and using #SertaPeace on Instagram or Twitter to share how they’ll take time out to relax and reclaim their bedroom. Those who join are also entered for a chance to win the grand prize of a bedroom makeover, as well as weekly prizes including mattresses, pillows, blankets, sheets and more, officials said.

“It’s no surprise that we are busier and more stressed out than ever before and our ability to sleep is suffering as a result,” said Andrew Gross, executive vice president of marketing at Serta. “We’re passionate about Declare Peace because the bedroom is the calmest place around, and the mattress is at the heart of it. At Serta, we work to bring technology and comfort together, so everyone can find a mattress that’s just right for them to create a bedroom sanctuary of their own.”

Serta officials noted that Americans are in a state of record-level unrest and discomfort and said that now, more than ever, it’s impacting their ability to sleep comfortably according to the National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep in America Poll.
