Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, September 16, 2011
MIAMI - Pelican Reef Wicker has announced its partnership with Panama Jack, becoming the outdoor furniture supplier of the first outdoor collection with the Panama Jack brand.
Pelican Reef is debuting the Island Breeze Collection at Chicago Casual Market in space 15-112. At the High Point Market, Oct. 22-27, Pelican Reef will show the Panama Jack line in Showplace at space 1300. Additionally, Panama Jack will display its outdoor furniture lineup at the High Point Market in its showroom, space 207 of Market on Green.
"Everyone involved with Pelican Reef is excited about the launching of Panama Jack's new outdoor collection," said Allen Calzadilla, president of Pelican Reef. "For years, we have been providing island-style casual furniture, and with this partnership, consumers can enjoy Panama Jack's trademark style of island fun, adventure and escape with their outdoor furniture in their own patios."
"Value, quality and style was our goal with designing the new Island Breeze Collection," said Mayleen Chadwick, vice president of sales, who helped design the Panama Jack Island Breeze Outdoor Collection. The casual styles and price points are targeted to the younger generation of consumers, and the value-oriented collection allows the furniture retailer to compete with mass merchant suppliers in their territories.
The Island Breeze Collection is made of extruded, powder-coated aluminum in an Expresso finish. Stackable chairs and tables feature a slatted panel construction. Signature pieces include a stackable, folding chaise lounge, a stackable barstool, and a lineup of tables in various sizes. The woven Twitchell sling material is an exclusive sling pattern for Panama Jack and can be used in residential and hospitality settings. The chaise retails at $299 and a dining set with four chairs retails at $799.
Pelican Reef Wicker offers an indoor and outdoor furniture lineup as a quick-ship program from its Florida distribution center, along with direct container inventory ready for immediate shipment from overseas.
Founded in 1974, Panama Jack has developed a line of beach lifestyle products ranging from swimwear, sandals and shoes to hats, jewelry, beach chairs and umbrellas. In 2010 the company added luggage and beach cruiser bicycles to its lineup. In 2011 it branched out to indoor furniture and now into outdoor furniture for 2012.
