Marion Linn Mayo, founder of Mayo Manufacturing

MarionTEXARKANA, Texas — Marion Linn Mayo, age 92, passed away April 22. He was the founder and chairman emeritus of Mayo Manufacturing Corp.

Mayo was born May 22, 1924, in High Point, Miss. During WWII he served as a U.S. Marine, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Williams Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Marine Corp League.

In 1952, Mayo moved his family to Texas, where he built a career in bedding and furniture manufacturing. In 1965, the family started the company bearing their name that continues under leadership of Mayo’s grandsons.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dean Mayo. Survivors include two sons, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, and his friend, Jackie Rehkopf.
