Buffalo store offers free furniture if Sabres win Stanley Cup

BUFFALO, N.Y. — FWS Home Furnishings here is repeating a promotion from last year, promising free furniture to participating consumers should the Buffalo Sabres hockey team take home the Stanley Cup next year.

"If Buffalo wins the cup during the 2011-2012 hockey season, FWS will rebate every single qualified purchase (except applicable taxes and delivery charges) made now through Oct. 6, of $500 or more," the company said in a release. That includes everything from furniture to carpeting to area rugs.

The National Hockey League preseason has just started, and "after an impressive preseason win against the (Carolina) Hurricanes, Buffalo hockey fans are energized with the prospect of winning a national hockey championship this season," the retailer said.

FWS said it offered the same deal last year, but Buffalo didn't win. "This year, Buffalo's prospects of winning the cup have never been better," the retailer said.
The company didn't respond to questions about the success of last year's event and whether or not it is insured.
