THOMASVILLE, N.C. — The Furniture Manufacturers Credit Assn. celebrated its 50th anniversary this month during its annual meeting at Colonial Country Club here.
Norma Yount, account manager at Ferguson Copeland, was inducted into the FMCA Hall of Fame during the event for "her meritorious service to the association," the organization of credit managers said.
Rick Clanton, credit manager for C.R. Laine, received the R.K Rudicil II Award for Excellence, honoring industry credit managers and leaders who have made significant service contributions to the FMCA. The honor is named after Rowland Rudicil, a former director of credit for Berkline and FMCA president. Clanton has served as an FMCA board member.
Doyle Edwards, vice president-credit manager for Vaughan-Bassett, received the Central North Carolina Credit Manager of the Year award and Chris Canipe, corporate credit manager for E.J. Victor, received the Steve Osborne Credit Manager of the Year honor from among FMCA's Western Carolina group.

Jim Bumgarner, FMCA executive vice president, also took a moment to recognize former FMCA Executive Vice President Barry Wood, who died Aug 14. Bumgarner spoke about Wood's contributions to the country as an Army veteran, his leadership at FMCA and his devotion to his family.
"As a recipient of FMCA's highest award, the R.K. Rudicil II Award, in 1998, Barry will be missed as a friend and as a business professional," Bumgarner said.
The new slate of FMCA officers are Ferguson Copeland's Yount, president (she also served as president in 1986-87 and 1988-89); Ron Teglas of Lexington Home Brands, vice president; Wendy Tester of Vanguard, secretary; and Dean Berrier of Sealy, treasurer.
Dave Carpenter, La-Z-Boy High Point, and C.R. Laine's Clanton were named directors. Berrier, the outgoing FMCA president, was honored with a past presidents plaque.
