Palliser adds ButtKicker option to new home theater seating line
Device lets users feel low-frequency sounds

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Palliser Furniture is adding the ButtKicker, a factory-installed device in home theater seating that allows users to feel low-frequency sounds such as explosions or drumbeats, to its list of options.
![]() Palliser home theater groups, such as the one seen here, will soon offer the ButtKicker audio transducer as a factory-installed option. The devise allows the user to “feel” explosions and other loud bass noises generated by the sub-woofer of their home theater audio system. |
Berkline had offered the ButtKicker in its seating for several years before going out of business earlier this year.
Palliser will offer the device as an option in its Surround HTS collection of home theater seating, which also offers 25 styles, 100 leathers and 200 fabric choices and "is responding to the demand for innovation, design options and cover choice," the company said.
Palliser said it has entered into an agreement with Guitammer Co., manufacturer of the ButtKicker, to offer the audio equipment. It allows users to feel loud bass noises generated by the sub-woofer in their home theater speaker system.
The Surround HTS line will debut at the High Point Market, which opens Oct. 22, and will be ready for shipping in January, officials said.
"ButtKicker is a very well-known brand in the industry, has a very high profile Internet presence at thebuttkicker.com and has excellent support and customer service for their product," James DeFehr, Palliser's president of operations and finance, said in a statement. "As the leading supplier of this product in the industry, they are an excellent match for Palliser and our strong home theatre product line."
DeFehr said the addition "can only help to ‘amplify' our home theater sales." Palliser makes its home theater collections at its factories here and in Mexico.
Guitammer president Mark Luden said that more than 80 theaters in 13 countries are equipped with ButtKicker transducers as are tens of thousands of existing home theater seats.
