New furniture carrier serves Pacific Northwest, part of Canada
Northwest Furniture Xpress acquires territory from Worldwide Logistics
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, October 25, 2011
MORGANTON, N.C. — The former owners of specialized furniture carrier Four Truckers have formed a new company called Northwest Furniture Xpress and have begun handling furniture shipments to the Pacific Northwest and two Canadian provinces.
The area had been serviced by furniture carrier Worldwide Logistics, but the new company has acquired the territory from WWL, said Carl Abernathy, president of Northwest Furniture Xpress.
Abernathy said the new company will focus exclusively on delivering furniture to Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alberta and British Columbia that originates from North Carolina, Virginia, eastern Tennessee and Southern California.
He said it's essentially the same territory that was serviced by Four Truckers before it joined forces with five other trucking companies in 2008 to form Worldwide Logistics.
"We have always enjoyed doing business in the Northwest and look forward to returning the same great service and reliability to our customers that they once knew at Four Truckers," said Abernathy. "Customers can expect a smooth transition with no service interruptions or pricing changes."
Abernathy and the other former owners of Four Truckers are stockholders in the new company, as is Grant Laidlaw, the company's vice president of sales.
Northwest Furniture Xpress is headquartered in the former Four Truckers complex in Morganton. Questions may be directed to Abernathy at cabernathy@nwfurnitureXpress.com or (828) 302-6578.
