Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 27, 2011
DANBURY, Conn. — Ethan Allen will produce case goods in Honduras at a former manufacturing plant it has acquired there, the company has announced.
The facility is 164,000 square feet on 18 acres with access to raw materials, highways, a modern seaport and communications networks, the company said.
"Over the next 12 months we expect this facility to enable us to manage further growth through its support of our existing North American manufacturing operations in Vermont, New Jersey, North Carolina and Mexico," said Farooq Kathwari, chairman and CEO of the manufacturer and retailer. "Our plans are to maintain our existing manufacturing operations in North America supplemented by offshore sourcing plus this new facility in Honduras."
