Judges to choose best High Point showrooms
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 28, 2011
HIGH POINT - Two editors and a designer will judge the High Point Market Showroom Design Competition.
The 2011 judges are Margaret Russell, editor in chief of Architectural Digest, interior design icon David Easton and Tracy Bulla, senior product editor for Home Accents Today, a sister publication of Furniture/Today.
"By highlighting and honoring our exhibitors in this competition, we hope to provide retailers with ideas and techniques that they can use throughout the year," said Cheminne Taylor-Smith, vice president of marketing, High Point Market Authority.
Launched in 2007, the Showroom Design Competition recognizes exhibitor creativity and inventiveness. The Market Authority invites exhibitors to submit photos of their showroom displays for the October market by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21. Exhibitors interested in entering should visit www.highpointmarket.org/sc2011 for more information.
The judges will vote for the Best of Market Award, which recognizes the showroom that best exemplifies design excellence.
In addition, a People's Choice Award is determined by market attendees' votes through Twitter and texts during market. Both will be presented Oct. 24 during the Stars under the Stars concert.
Last year's honorees in the Best of Market category were BeeLine Home by Bunny Williams in first place and Miles Talbott as runner-up. Four Hands won the 2010 People's Choice Award.
