Celebrity designer Angelo Surmelis is filling a style void with new contemporary sofas, loveseats, chairs and ottomans along with updated traditional. Fabrics include twills, exaggerated paisley, florals and birds and details include casters and turned and plain legs.

The company will make upholstery introductions in three collections, including: Grand Casual, which has eight sofa groups and five freestanding chairs that blend traditional and modern elements and a fabric story using texture, soft tones and accents of color; New Classics, which includes six sofa groups and four freestanding chairs/chaises with dramatic statements through the use of color, shape and fabrics; Interiors will add six sofa groups and five freestanding chairs in bolder patterns, new shapes and an increasing number of frames available in leather. Interiors also uses more color, and includes new exposed wood pieces with stainless steel throughout the introductions. The cover story includes cut velvets, silks and rich red leathers.

Broyhill is going heavy on bonded leather this market with 16 pieces, and also will have a strong showing in sectionals that includes Tribeca, with a cream body cloth with accent pillows with hot tangerine and floral print with tangerine flowers. In addition, the company will offer a collection called Weekends in casual fabrics that include twills, ticking, stripes and denim. In all, there will be 67 new frames on the showroom floor.
CARACOLE

This design-oriented portfolio will have a European flavor with Belgian, Scandinavian, Italian and French inspired designs. The Belgian-influenced sofas will be in linen in two sizes, 86 inches and 102 inches. Sculptural motifs will frame the Scandinavian modern intros. An exposed wood frame with fretwork detailing influenced by French designer Paul Follot has been update, and the color palette features crisp greens, soft lavenders and mellow golds. Caracole covers all product categories - upholstery, case goods, occasional and accent pieces in multiple price points.
The new Caracole Light collection, a portfolio created for consumers who believe less is more, will start off with Modern Farmhouse, with five accent chairs, two sofas, an 82-inch cut back shelter sofa with exposed wood and nail trim and a modern English arm sofa, with contrasting flange welt. The collection also includes 20 occasional pieces made with fast-growing fir and New Zealand pine. Produced in North Carolina, the collection offers 13 fabric choices and ships in four to six weeks.

The Los Angeles-based company has formed new manufacturing alliances in India and China, and will offer lower price point items and price promotions on selected items during market. Introductions include the modern style Melo sofa in linen, $3,400; the Elizabeth chair in linen with slipcover design, $1,195; the Aldo sofa in linen, slipcover with contrasting welt, $4,730; the Renata sectional in linen with contrasting welt, $5,800; and the Keko ottoman in linen in contemporary to traditional styling with tufted top and nail head detailing, $595. All frames use FSC-certified hardwoods.

Craftmaster will emphasize casual styling, along with more stripes and collages in an assortment of new products displayed in the company's redesigned showroom. Particularly striking are new entries in the Better Homes and Gardens brand. The company also is expanding its Comfort Soft category with sofas offering casual soft seating. And for buyers looking for goods to promote, several sofas will be offered to sell at $599 retail.

Company will launch its custom order That's My Style by Flexsteel program that offers 176 tailoring options. Among the options are four arm styles, two back cushions, three nail heads, welt or French seam, and five base/skirt choices. Also available will be a choice of the company's lifetime plush cushion or an upgraded feather blend cushion, plus seven wood finishes options on the three legs available. There also is a contrast welt option, multiple pillows with fringe and braid options and over 1,500 fabrics.

Stationary includes the Martin group (sofa $699), with chair and a half, matching chair and ottoman in a retro 1960s look that includes tailored button tufting cushion design. The sofa is 80 inches and takes Lane into another direction in contemporary. The Wynn sofa and sectional has a sloped track arm, and is available in fabric or leather. The Simon ($699) is a transitional three-over-three sofa group (with matching loveseat, chair and ottoman) with back stitching. All three intros are offered as part of Lane's Simple Solutions and Endure collections, and come with pocket coil seating.

Safavieh follows the smaller space trend with a collection of 12 small-scale chairs packed with designer details from button tufts to authentic brass nail head trim.
