Industry veteran Fred Berk forms consulting firm

GRAND BLANC, Mich. — Industry veteran Fred Berk has formed a home furnishings consulting company, advising both retailers and suppliers.

Berk, who was president and chief operating officer of the former Fort Myers, Fla.-based Robb & Stucky from 1998 until earlier this year, is consulting on merchandising, operations and logistics matters for medium to high-end home furnishings businesses. He is working from offices in Naples, Fla., and Grand Blanc, Mich.
Berk has more than 46 years of industry experience in all areas of the retail business. Prior to his executive post at Robb & Stucky, he was president of the former Lancaster, Pa.-based Breuners Home Furnishings Corp. He was named National Home Furnishings Assn.'s Retailer of the Year in 1997.
He also has served on advisory committees for manufacturers, including Thomasville and the former Lifestyle Furnishings International.
