Will be recognized at annual dinner-dance Dec. 3

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 2, 2011

SUFFERN, N.Y. — The Metropolitan Furnishings Assn. of New Jersey and the Greater New York Home Furnishings Assn. will recognize four industry veterans during their second annual joint Awards Dinner and Dance gala, set for Saturday, Dec. 3.

This year's honorees are Patrick Cory of Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery, Edward Massood of Thomasville Home Furnishings of New Jersey, Brad Pyne of AICO and Russell Bienenstock of Furniture World Magazine.

"This year, we have four hometown honorees who give freely of their time, energy and enthusiasm year after year to support the furniture business, industry associations and furniture-related charitable causes in our local Northeast trading area as well as nationally," said Abraham Feinblum, president of the GNYHFA.

Massood, president of Thomasville Home Furnishings of New Jersey, will receive the GNYHFA's Jerry Gans Memorial Award. The award goes to a person who has distinguished himself with deeds and service.

Cory, managing partner at the family-owned Cory 1st, will receive the Howard Liveright Memorial Award, given by the MFA. The award honors a person who has made outstanding contributions in the industry.

Bienenstock, editor in chief and CEO of Furniture World Magazine, and Pyne, who represents AICO and Synergy Home Furnishings, will receive the Charles B. Costar Dean of IHFRA Award, which is given to individuals who have set an example in the industry through service and dedication to the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. and their chapter.

The gala will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel here. For more information, contact Alan Granetz of the MFA at (908) 725-3460 or metrofurnassoc@gmail.com.
