Ikea recalls 2,200 wardrobe mirror doors
Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, November 3, 2011
WASHINGTON — Ikea North America is recalling about 2,200 wardrobe mirror doors due to a laceration hazard involving the mirror.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the mirror glass on the wardrobe can detach unexpectedly and shatter. It said Ikea has received reports of 14 such incidents including one minor injury in Europe. No incidents have been reported in the U.S. or Canada.
The units have a model number 101-604-51 and also have the names Pax Aurland and Ikea inscribed on the rear, lower edge of the mirror door.
Made in Sweden, these were sold at Ikea stores from October 2010 through September 2011 for about $60. About 1,700 were sold in the U.S. and 500 were sold in Canada.
The CPSC has recommended that consumers contact their local Ikea store for instructions on returning the mirror door and getting a free replacement. For additional information, they also can call Ikea toll free at (888) 966-4532 or visit the company's website at www.ikea-usa.com.
