Keys to good sleep

Percent of respondents saying element of sleep experience has a big impact on ability to get a good night’s sleep

This week we take another look at some intriguing results from the National Sleep Foundation's Bedroom Poll. And we find that the survey results sketch out a roadmap of sleep accessories that smart mattress retailers will want to keep on hand at all times.
     We are a big proponent of making pillows part of the mattress shopping experience, and these poll results vividly illustrate the importance of that product category, as pillows lead the list of factors that have a big impact on getting a good night's sleep.
     Bedroom temperature is being addressed by a number of products, ranging from mattresses designed to keep sleepers in a comfortable temperature zone through high-tech components to mattresses that have built-in heating and cooling systems. The survey results show the importance of addressing bedroom temperature with a number of products.
     Sheets are cited by more than half of respondents as having a big impact on a good night of sleep; that is an obvious endorsement of that category for smart retailers.
     There are a number of anti-snoring products on the market, including pillows designed to reduce snoring, and retailers should obviously consider carrying those products.
     As for allergies, mattress and pillow protectors can be helpful in that arena.
