Williams-Sonoma rolls out cross-brand designer service

SAN FRANCISCO — Williams-Sonoma has launched a complimentary cross-brand design service called the Design Crew.

Consumers can visit or call their local stores to set up an in-store or in-home consultation with design experts across all eight of the retailer’s brands: Williams Sonoma, Williams Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen, Mark and Graham, Rejuvenation and West Elm.

The Top 100 company said its Design Crew team is trained to help consumers with decorating, renovating, entertaining, cooking and gift giving needs. Members of the company's The Key loyalty rewards program will receive 3% back in rewards on any purchase across the brands, according to a release,

The service includes help with gathering ideas, inspiration, paint and fabric recommendations; measuring, creating custom floor plans and design look across a room or multiple spaces; and fee-based installation service for assembling furniture, hanging drapes and other jobs.

“Innovation that best serves our customers’ needs in-store and online is our priority, and the new Design Crew allows us to provide customers with outstanding service and a range of aesthetics and products across all of our brands at the same time,” said Laura Alber, Williams-Sonoma president and CEO.

“The Design Crew experience enables us to maximize our competitive advantage of diverse brands, grow our in-store and online businesses and further our commitment to provide outstanding service to our customers.”

Williams-Sonoma joins a growing number of home furnishings retailers promoting complimentary or low-price design services, such as Art Van Furniture’s program through Scott Shuptrine Interiors, now offering low-cost packages of services, and Havertys H Design complimentary service.
