Pier 1 CFO Boyer resigning, IT exec joins

FORT WORTH, Texas — Jeffrey Boyer, Pier 1 Imports executive vice president and chief financial officer, will leave the Top 100 retailer Oct. 3 to become chief financial officer of Fossil Group, where he sits on the board.

In a release, Pier 1 said it will hire an executive search firm to help find his replacement. In addition, former Overstock.com executive and information technology veteran Bhargav Shah has joined as senior vice president and chief information officer.

“Jeff manages a strong team that will continue driving our financial functions and supporting our strategy,” Pier 1 President and CEO Alasdair James said in a statement. “We wish Jeff well and are pleased he will be here to ensure a smooth transition during this important time.”

Shah joins Pier 1 with nearly 20 years of technology, digital and supply chain experience. His most recent positions were chief information office and head of e-commerce at supply chain management firm IntegraCore and chief information officer and chief technology officer at Overstock.

While at IntegraCore, Bhargav led its e-commerce initiative and built an online sales model for supply chain automation and logistics. At Overstock.com, he increased “data usage to automate and improve decision-making and drove customer centricity across devices and channels, resulting in improved customer engagement and cross-channel growth,” according to Pier 1.

Before that, Bhargav held information technology positions at KPMG, Pfizer and Ernst & Young.

James said Bhargav “brings a diverse skill set that includes IT strategy, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as an impressive track record of driving automation and growth.” Pier one also expects to benefit from his retail systems experience, he added.
