Company names Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Joel M. Mussat to run Acceptance Now business

PLANO, Texas – Mark E. Denman, executive vice president of Acceptance Now of Rent-A-Center Inc., has resigned his position, effective Aug. 1, according to a recent company filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

In the Aug. 4 filing, the company described his resignation as a termination “without cause” and said he is entitled to his unpaid but earned base salary through Aug. 1. He is also entitled to a pro rata bonus for the year ended Dec. 31, 2017, and one and a half times the sum of his highest annual rate of salary during the previous 24 months.

Before joining the company, Mussat was chief operating officer of Vixxo Inc. from January 2016 to April 2017 and was executive vice president - chief omnichannel officer from January 2014 to January 2016.

Before that he was executive vice president - emerging business from May 2012 through January 2014.

He first joined Vixxo in December 2005 as vice president of strategic planning and held that role until December 2009. After that he was promoted to other executive level roles with the company.

Since then, I also have visited several furniture trade shows and manufacturing plants in Asia, which has helped me gain perspective about the industry in that part of the world. As I continue covering the import side of the business, I look forward to building on that knowledge base through conversations with industry officials and future overseas plant tours.
