Best Home NASCAR honors son of industry veteran

FERDINAND, Ind. – Best Home Furnishings sponsored NASCAR will honor the late son of industry veteran Bob Gorman in its next race at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 19.

The rear panel of the No. 23 Best Home Furnishings Toyota Camry driven by Joey Gase is dedicated to the nonprofit organization Donate Life. The BK Racing car will pay tribute to Rudy Gorman, who passed away at the age of 21 in a traffic accident.

He was the only son of Bob Gorman, vice president of merchandising at Advantage Fabric and a close friend to the Best Home Furnishings family. Rudy’s organ and tissue donations benefited several individuals.

“Since Gase’s mother passed away when he was 18, he has dedicated racing to honor his mother’s legacy through Donate Life,” said Brian Lange, president of Best Home Furnishings. “To use the Best race car as a platform for raising awareness of organ and tissue donations and pay tribute to Rudy and his family is a fulfilling purpose for our organizations.”

Gase’s work with Donate Life was inspired by his late mother who was a proponent of organ and tissue donation.

Bob Gorman has been involved in the furniture industry for more than 38 years representing various fabric mills. Gorman has been calling on Best throughout his career, becoming friends with the Lange family. When Gorman discovered the link to Joey Gase and Donate Life, he shared with them the story of his son.

“The back of Joey's car is reserved to honor donors who in their passing have given life, hope, sight and promise to many others who live on. Our dear Rudy was a donor, and my family is very honored to have Rudy’s picture and name on the back of the car at the Bristol 500 race,” said Gorman.

At the upcoming Bristol 500 race, Best Home Furnishings will host the Gorman family at the race with pre-race activities and access to the pits to meet Gase and the BK Racing team.
