Sleep Country USA acquires 14-store chain

SEATTLE - Mattress retailer Sleep Country USA has acquired 14 Mattress Outlet stores in eastern Washington and western Idaho and will convert them to Sleep Country locations by the end of the year.
     The acquisition will boost Sleep Country USA's store count to 84, and the retailer said it will soon open additional stores in Lacey and Tumwater, Wash.
     "We are continually looking for strategic growth opportunities that allow us to reach new communities," said Dale Carlsen, CEO of Sleep Country USA. "Acquiring Mattress Outlet enables us to expand rapidly into a brand new region with over a dozen stores, bringing local customers quality sleep products and a superior shopping experience."
     The Mattress Outlet units carry Serta bedding exclusively, but once converted to Sleep Country, they also will carry the Simmons, Sealy, Stearns & Foster and TempurPedic brands.

     Sleep Train, a Top 100 retailer that operates more than 230 stores under the Sleep Train, Mattress Discounters and Sleep Country USA names in the western U.S.
