Sidney Rechtman, Crest Furniture co-founder

NEW YORK - Sidney Rechtman, co-founder of Top 100 retailer Crest Furniture, has died. He was 96.
Rechtman co-founded Crest with Simon Kaplan in 1970.
The company now has seven Value City stores and six Ashley Furniture HomeStores in New Jersey. Rechtman often stayed in the background, but he was an integral part of the growth and success of the company, an associate said.
Rechtman is survived by his wife, Doris, a sister and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the City of Hope foundation at www.cityofhope.org or to a charity of the donor's choice.
