SPCI to help Kreiss Collections ‘restrategize'

SAN DIEGO - High-end furniture source and retailer Kreiss Collections is "restrategizing" with the help of sales and consulting firm SPCI Cos., according to its managing director.
SPCI will manage high-impact sales at several of the 15 Kreiss stores to help evaluate which locations will be closed or moved, said Loren Kreiss. He said he expects a couple of stores will close and others may move to better locations.
"What we are doing is evaluating how best to tackle the next year and years in the furniture business," said Kreiss, who manages the 70-year-old family company based here. Kreiss Collections produces a luxury furniture line and says it was a pioneer in the "overstuffed California look."
Kreiss said the company started expanding last year "when our instincts and market research indicated that the economy was picking up." But around March, management realized the pickup wasn't happening as expected, and began evaluating its locations, he said.
With SPCI's help, the company will see if a strong advertising program brings in more shoppers and also will be able to present great values to its customers and experiment with other product lines that may be added to the stores, he said.
Kreiss has seven showrooms in California, four in Florida and one each in Las Vegas, Seattle, Denver and Scottsdale, Ariz.
