IMC reorganization results in handful of layoffs
But company is seeking COO, CMO and others

HIGH POINT — International Market Centers, which owns the World Market Center in Las Vegas and several major High Point showroom buildings, confirmed it has dismissed eight people as part of a reorganization.
At least three - Brian Bunch, Lisa Shankle and Diane Caldwell - were based in High Point, although the names and positions of the others were not immediately available.
Bunch had been a vice president of Merchandise Mart Properties, which once owned Market Square and several other buildings, and Shankle had been general manager of Showplace.
Caldwell handled leasing for the International Home Furnishings Center.
The IHFC, Showplace, the Merchandise Mart buildings and the World Market Center were consolidated under a single ownership group this summer in a deal valued at about $1 billion.
"With the integration of the four previous companies into one, there is a degree of reorganization that must occur in our new IMC operations. Part of this process will result in some personnel changes with both reductions and additions to the organization," IMC said in a statement released by Dana Andrew, vice president of marketing and public relations.
"We respect and appreciate the contributions of the affected individuals and are committed to providing tools to help them with their career transition."
IMC's website, http://www.imcenters.com currently lists nine available positions, including chief operating officer and chief marketing officer.
The site says seven of the nine positions can be based in either High Point or Las Vegas. The other two - tenant relations manager and president of the Gift + Home segment - will be based in Las Vegas.
