Tuft & Needle targets Mattress Firm with new campaign

PHOENIX – In an unusual move, online mattress retailer Tuft & Needle says it will pay shoppers $100 if they don’t like their Tuft & Needle mattress and then purchase one at Mattress Firm.

“The Mattress Bet intends to shine a light on big mattress stores taking advantage of their customers from price and materials to delivery and returns,” the company said. It says that it is betting $1 million that customers will prefer its buying experience and product over those at Mattress Firm.

Tuft & Needle said it has set aside $1 million to cover that bet.

The company said that 95% of its customers keep and love their Tuft & Needle mattress. It said its new campaign is designed to send “a message to the Goliaths of the mattress industry.”
